Welcome to Travel Solutions’ very first blog! I’m very excited to get things up and running. Travel Solutions started when I took a class to become a travel agent over 10 years ago. My first experience with booking travel came from working as an Executive Assistant for a Vice-President at a Fortune 500 company. Because our company had a contract with a global organization, the Vice-President was required to travel to several of the locations across the world. The first business trip I booked for him was to Shanghai, China. At the time, I knew nothing about passports, visas, different time zones or how to even make an international phone call. Everything I learned, I learned on the job, and I had to learn it quickly. It was exciting and scary at the same time. There were times I had to schedule conference calls with one people in various locations all over the world. One person could be in Michigan, one in Chicago, one in Brazil and the other in India or China. Trying to find the perfect time for everyone was a challenge but I made it work. Once I got the hang of booking international travel, I loved it. This inspired me to begin booking international travel for our family vacations, birthdays, and anniversaries. I ended up leaving the job because my family relocated to another state, but my love for being a travel agent continued.
